Pumpkin soup

Last weekend we went to Apple Hill, Ca. It’s a small place about 30 minutes drive from us. There is wonderful, crystal clean air, smells from many small markets that sell fresh apples, pears and homemade pies. No wonder we like to visit them in the fall.

Apple Hill is one of our favorite places to get pumpkins. Pumpkin patches are everywhere, and many people drive to there to pick them themselves. You should get up early to be on fields before the crowd arrives. Then, you can enjoy a beautiful view of wide space full of colorful pumpkins of different shapes, textures and colors.

Of course, we picked some pumpkins. Big and orange – these are for house decoration for Halloween. Ornamental gourds - for interior decoration and Thanksgiving table arrangement. Favorites – Buttermilk squash – are for great fall pumpkin hot soup.

Here is a photo of two bowls of hot, delicious pumpkin soup garnished with cream, roasted pumpkin seeds and fresh thyme.
